Fully restored professionally by a team of renowned and well recognised VW Specialists headed by Paul Irving at Irv’s restoration. Absolutely no expense has been spared restoring this bus to the highest possible standard that included stripping the entire shell to bare metal, removing all running gear etc and basically starting again from scratch. This bus is a genuine German built, Left Hand Drive bus that was supplied new to the US in 1965 and later imported into the UK more recently. The panel work on the bus was prepared meticulously and all the doors open and shut beautifully, far superior to how they would have been from factory. The entire shell has then been carefully primed, prepared and repainted in year correct original VW colours, Velvet Green / Pearl White.
The attention to detail everywhere you look is superb including the engine bay which is definitely the best prepared that we have ever seen. The 1600TP engine has been fully rebuilt and is just being run in. Fully overhauled braking system including brand new brake servo upgrade for optimum performance. Overhauled suspension system. The bus drives very well indeed and the gear selection is superb!
Superb interior including upholstery from Kens customs includes year correct perforated off white vinyl headliner, original style salt & pepper / basalt grey custom vinyl seats, door cards and bed cushions. Cabinetry work bespoke in Devon interior styling featuring two main cabinets with opposite facing seating, rear overhead locker. Rear draws that open effortlessly for additional storage. Main seating area folds down using table platform to create a double bed. Internal electrics and lighting wired in and additional 12v leisure battery and split charge relay (high quality) kit installed.
Absolutely every single item you look at on this bus has either been replaced or meticulously refurbed and this restoration has been carried out with a great amount of passion ensuring that the bus retains a wonderful original feel inside and out.
