This bus has had an enormous restoration carried out professionally to the highest possible standard. The metal work is in superb order absolutely everywhere you look and the attention to detail is second to none.
When looking carefully at the bus, it soon becomes evident that this bus has undergone a very special restoration but not only that, it clearly was in superb shape prior to restoration owing to its easy life spent in California and Seattle before being imported into the UK. Every single place you look has been prepared with meticulous detail, even to the point where it makes us want to keep the bus for ourselves and not sell it on!
This is a 1967 Split Screen which was the last year of production in Germany, making the bus very desirable. Factory Left Hand Drive supplied to the US market. Having spent the majority of its life in a dry ‘rust free’ climate. Bare metal restoration completed and painted in year correct Volkswagen one year only colour, ‘Lotus White’. Complete with all of very expensive exterior items that set the bus off including polished stainless bumpers, deluxe trim, 5 spoke 15’’ silver / diamond cut alloy wheels etc.
Reconditioned 1500SP engine runs beautifully with the original vacuum advance distributor and correct German Solex Carburettor. Very powerful for a small unit that keeps up with modern traffic easily. Lovely gearbox selecting all gears pleasantly. An enjoyable bus to drive indeed and comes with 12 months MOT even though no longer required by law for further peace of mind.
The bus has a tasteful camping interior with all upholstery finished in brown vinyl, fabric inserts and cream piping (on seats) to match body colour. 12V Waeco Fridge (An amazing product that we use in all of our buses), ¾ width Rock n’ Roll bed, SMEV double gas burner / sink combo unit. Detachable and sliding table. Quality sound system. Plenty of storage space throughout. Leisure battery system. Interior lighting. Front 3 point seatbelts and rear lap belts. Professionally finished throughout.
