One of the most meticulously looked after buses we have presented to the market having been owned by a serious enthusiast who sadly had to sell the bus on only due to his age and change in circumstances.
‘Costa’, as he has been aptly named is a factory right hand drive, desirable walk through camper van, ideal in that you can walk from the front to the rear of the vehicle without the need to exit. The bus also benefits from a modern pop top roof conversion that elevates with gas strut assistance making it effortless for the operator, far superior to that of the early 1960s designs.
The bus is effectively a 4 berth with a small slide out double bed in the pop top roof area suitable for children / small adults and a full width rock n roll bed in the main camping area. There is also always the option to add a driveaway awning that can be purchased separately to increase the habitable area even further.
The bus has been subject to a thorough restoration by specialists Johnson Autoworks including a strip down and full repaint in stunning Mexico beige / Sepia brown which has been the continued theme throughout the bus, oozing nostalgia from every angle. The metalwork is in good condition and the underside very solid, a testament to a good quality resto and subsequently a well looked after bus.
Subject to a £10,000 mechanical overhaul in 2019 by renowned VW specialists, Type 2 Detectives including recommissioning the buses sought after type 4 engine with many new components, reconditioned steering, uprated Bilstein shock absorbers, replacement ball joints and much more work listed in there comprehensive ‘health check’ report. Towbar professionally fitted in 2019. Fire suppression system in engine bay. 240v hookup, leisure battery and 12v electrics throughout bus with split charge relay system to ensure leisure battery remains charged when vehicle is in use.

No expense spared on the fit-up with all new door handles, mirrors and even a new pair of stainless steel bumpers were fitted at the time.
Bespoke interior built by Custom Classic and Retro who build some of the best classic camper van interiors available. Electric Porsche seats installed that transform the driving position and comfort in the cabin of this bus. All in full working order to make those minor adjustments with the flick of a finger and with headrests provide additional safety up front.

I have never quite seen so much attention to detail in a bus in terms of comfort with this bus having been completely carpet lined throughout with every carpet made from custom templates to ensure neat fitment as well as further overlay carpets to protect from dirt as much as possible.
Propex gas heater fitted to take the chill off when camping if required and full curtain set to offer complete privacy. 13a sockets, flip down TV, sound system with custom grills in bed skirting board as not to aesthetically damage the rear with 6×9 speakers! (amazing level of detail). Front & Rear seatbelts retrofitted for additional safety.
