Evante convertible, 1989. This Vegantune Evante is in Jaguar British Racing Green metallic. Excellent example of approximately 100 made by George Robinson of Vegantune fame. Vegantune were heavily into preparing 26R racing Elans in around 1965. In the 1980s the Evante was conceived obviously based on the Lotus Elan. Kevlar and Carbon fibre body over a Spyder space-frame tubular backbone chassis. 1700cc Kent engine with the specially cast Vegantune twin-cam cylinder head fed by twin Dellorto DHLA carbs. Ford 5 Speed gearbox with nicely spaced ratios. Around 140 bhp makes this a match for an Elan Sprint in terms of performance. Connolly leather seats, full walnut dash and Wilton carpets, making the cabin quite luxurious. Leda adjustable shock absorbers all round with matched springs. Sierra differential. 14” Meteor alloys refurbished in 2019 with full size spare. Black mohair hood in excellent condition along with a matching tonneau cover. New Avon Rain Expert tyres fitted less than 1500 miles ago. Servo assisted disc brakes all round. Alpine stereo radio with hands free Bluetooth connection. Uprated stainless-steel exhaust system and a new aluminium radiator and new pipework. Drives really well and sounds great with the twin-cam set-up. Used in 2019 for the Silverstone Classic Retro Run when 300 miles were covered in one day. Great fun. Comes fully MOT’d.
